Karen's Avon 3-Day - Atlanta Here I Come!

Would you walk 60 miles to save a life?
I will!

I am participating in an Avon 3-Day - a 60 mile walk over a period of three days to raise money for breast cancer research and funding for breast cancer prevention programs. Maybe you're sitting here reading this saying to yourself - "It couldn't happen to me! I'm healthy, I eat right, I exercise." FACT: Over 70% of breast cancer cases occur in women who have no identifiable risk factors!

This October 5 - 7, 2001 I will be joining over 2,000 other men and women to walk from Lake Lanier Resort to Atlanta, Georgia. I need your help!! I've pledged to raise at least $1,900 but my personal goal is to raise $3,000 and I cannot do it alone. I'm asking you to take a few moments to decide how much your life, or your mother's, your sister's, your daughter's. . . what are those lives worth to you. Right now I want you to think of eight friends and consider - 1 out of 9 women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Which one of your friends are you willing to give up to breast cancer - or would you choose it for yourself?

My mother, Rosemary Postel, passed away March 14, 1999 from metastatic breast cancer. If I can save just one person from the pain, the fear, the hopelessness and the heartbreak of watching a loved one die . . it will have been worth every single step!

Feel free to look through this site - read the excerpts from the diary, check out the stats to see how much money I've raised so far, see how many hours I've trained and how far I've walked in my training, and please visit the link marked "Donate" - it will give you information on how to make a pledge to this cause that is so dear to my heart!

Also, before you leave, please take a moment to sign my guestbook and leave me a note! I can use all the encouragement I can get - it makes the blisters easier to deal with too!
